Frequently asked questions

How many calories are in a plate of rice?

A plate can hold very different amounts. Here a small side portion is 70 g, medium 110 g and large 150 g of cooked rice. Choose multiple portions for a larger serving. The result covers rice, not the whole meal.

Why are dry and cooked rice calories different?

Rice absorbs water during cooking. The same weight of dry and cooked rice therefore represents different amounts of rice. This calculator uses cooked rice only. Use the package label when calculating a recipe from dry rice.

Does the result include sauce or cooking oil?

No. Add sauce, oil, butter and other ingredients separately. Fried rice and risotto are complete dishes: look for their own entries in the food calorie calculator.
